In his third State of the Nation Address on 22 July 2024, President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. underscored the importance of teacher quality and career progression.

Announcing the allocation of funds to implement the expanded career progression system for public school teachers, the President said:

“Sa sistemang ito, wala nang public school teacher ang magre-retire na Teacher I lamang (In this system, no public school teacher shall retire as Teacher I).”

RITQ supported the reframing of teacher and school leader promotion through a career progression system anchored on professional standards for teachers and school leaders. This support achieved a major milestone with the signing of Executive Order No. 174, series of 2022, on 23 June 2022, which established the expanded career progression system for public school teachers.

Progression in one’s career entails personal agency to take the initiative to learn new skills, build expertise, and obtain further education and training. RITQ has developed self-paced modules and materials that can help teachers accelerate their career progression journey.

Teachers can explore these materials by visiting the Resources for Teachers section of the RITQ website.
