RITQ with representatives from the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II), the Department of Education (DepEd), the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), and the Teacher Education Council (TEC) Secretariat.

RITQ participated in a meeting between The Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II), the Department of Education (DepEd), the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), and the Teacher Education Council (TEC) Secretariat on 11 July 2024 aimed at refining the in-service professional development and human resource policies within DepEd.

The meeting began with a comprehensive review of the existing professional development (PD) programs for teachers, school heads, and master teachers. This included evaluating how these programs align with the career progression system and the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST).

A portion of the discussion focused on the collection, analysis, and utilization of the RITQ-assisted Results-Based Performance Management System (RPMS) data. This data is crucial for informing and improving the planning and implementation of PD programs.

The group also tackled the effectiveness of instructional supervision, coaching, and mentoring. They discussed the methods for monitoring, evaluating, and integrating these practices with RPMS data.

Participants received updates on the NEAP Transformation and discussed how NEAP ensures complementarity across various professional development efforts within DepEd. There was an in-depth discussion on how BHROD, NEAP, and TEC should collaborate to operationalize career progression. This includes enhancing the professional development landscape for teachers at different career stages.

RITQ Director Dr. Jennie Jocson led the RITQ team while OIC Undersecretary Wilfredo E. Cabral led the DepEd team.  The TEC Secretariat was represented by a team led by Executive Director II Dr. Runvi Manguerra.

The collaboration between EDCOM II, DepEd, NEAP, BHROD and RITQ underscores the importance of continuous improvement and data-driven strategies in the education sector. The meeting was part of EDCOM II’s mandate to conduct a comprehensive national evaluation and assessment of the Philippine education system. (RITQ Communications)
