RITQ team with workshop guests

Following its transition to an institute, RITQ conducted an organizational workshop on 4.-6 July 2024 in Talisay, Batangas to streamline its workflow, refine ISO processes, and chart future directions.

The workshop also aimed to review the MATATAG materials produced from the current collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd). The project focuses on the Formative Process Evaluation of the MATATAG Curriculum Pilot Implementation, targeting to develop models for learning resources and professional development for teachers and school heads.

RITQ staff were welcome by Philippine Normal University President Dr. Bert J. Tuga.

“We gather here not only to build upon the successful transition from the Research Center for Teacher Quality to the Research Institute for Teacher Quality (RITQ), but also to propel our institute forward with tangible steps that align with our strategic plan for the latter half of 2024 and the years forward,” said Dr. Tuga.

Day 1 focused on streamlining the workflow of RITQ operations and revising ISO procedures, given RITQ’s transition to an institute.

RITQ Director Dr. Jennie Jocson facilitated report development and a reflective session on the implementation of the MATATAG project on Day 2, allowing RITQ staff to review their experiences and observations since the start of the project implementation. This reflective session provided valuable insights and generated additional points for consideration in finalizing the MATATAG project report.

Dr. Teresita Rungduin, PNU Vice President for Research, Extension, and Quality Assurance, shared her insights on how RITQ could enhance its contributions to research, services, and production within the university. This was followed by Mr. Arvin Yana, communications consultant, who facilitated a communication workshop in the context of the transition to RITQ and the communication needs of the MATATAG project. The day concluded with RITQ’s communications and strategic foresight team discussing past and current research and technical reports, focusing on how to package and disseminate research and knowledge products effectively.

The final day was dedicated to collaborative action planning. RITQ worked on developing detailed work plans, activities, timelines, and responsibilities for finalizing the MATATAG project report and other ongoing projects. This collaborative effort ensured that the team had a clear and defined path forward.

“As RITQ continues to support teacher quality, the lessons and plans from this workshop will play a pivotal role in the institute’s ongoing journey,” said RITQ senior program manager Dr. Brando Palomar. “We feel more unified and prepared for the future.”
