RITQ Deputy Director Dr. Allan Reyes served as a resource speaker and research evaluator at the 2024 Regional Research Conference of DepEd Region III. Themed “Igniting Innovation and Transformation in Basic Education through Impact, Excellence, and Evidence-based Research,” the event was held from 10-12 July 2024 at the Hacienda Gracia Resort and Hotel in Lubao, Pampanga.

“As a respected educator and researcher, having Dr. Reyes at this important event will inspire our practitioners and accentuate their desire to improve their instructional and supervisory practices through research,” said DepEd III Regional Director Dr. May Eclar on Dr. Reyes’ participation.

During the conference, Dr. Reyes presented RITQ’s pivotal study on School Organization and Staffing Standards. This study, which was presented to DepEd and the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II) in April 2024, garnered attention for its insightful findings and recommendations.

A highlight of the conference was the presentation of research outputs by school administrators, supervisors, non-teaching personnel, teachers, and special program coordinators from 21 schools divisions within the region. The panel, with the expert assistance of Dr. Reyes, selected the Top 3 best research presentations, showcasing innovative and impactful research efforts on basic education.

“It was important to not only highlight the importance of evidence-based research in enhancing educational practices but also the importance of utilizing research findings to improve learning delivery, and to influence policy,” Dr. Reyes said. “I am grateful to DepEd Region III for the opportunity to engage with the region’s research community as they nurture a culture of continuous improvement and transformation in their schools and divisions.”

The conference aimed to showcase innovative interventions that can potentially transform and improve education settings; foster a comparative understanding of education research trends, challenges and solutions; provide a platform for Basic Education Research Fund (BERF) grantees to establish meaningful connections and collaborations; and recognize the best research outputs and oral presenters in the region.
