RITQ is developing a primer to guide the implementation of collaborative expertise sessions (CES) under the Department of Education’s MATATAG curriculum.

This comprehensive document will outline the background, objectives, benefits, and responsibilities of school heads, master teachers, and teachers. It will also feature a proposed schedule, activities, and templates.

RITQ will also offer inputs and training for trainers on CES, establishing a monitoring and evaluation system for training and mentoring.

The RITQ team, led by Dr. Brando Palomar, met with DepED Undersecretary for Curriculum and Teaching Dr. Gina Gonong on 20 June 2024 to align on the primer’s details.

CES enhances teacher quality by promoting collaboration among educators, enabling them to share best practices, strategies, and resources. This leads to improved teaching methods and higher educational standards. Through these sessions, teachers receive continuous professional development, keeping them updated on the latest pedagogical trends and innovations, which is essential for effective teaching.

The development of the CES primer is part of the partnership between DepEd and RITQ in supporting the pilot implementation of the K to 10 MATATAG Curriculum through the development of teacher support materials with student worksheets; and conduct of monitoring and evaluation of the pilot implementation geared to inform the refinement of the learning materials for the revised curriculum.
