The Philippines Institute for Development Studies (PIDS)—a research partner of the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II)—recently interviewed key personnel from RITQ as part of its comprehensive study on teacher education.

Virtual interview with RITQ key personnel by PIDS researchers

The study, commissioned by the Teacher Development subcommittee of EDCOM II, focuses on two key areas: mapping Centers of Excellence (COEs) in teacher education and analyzing quality assurance systems within teacher education institutions (TEIs). This research aims to gather valuable insights from experts like RITQ, and aims to provide decision makers with evidence-based recommendations to improve teacher development in the Philippines.

PIDS researchers Ms. Leih Maruss Sinsay-Villanueva and Ms. Glenda Darlene Garcia conducted the interview on 20 May 2024 with RITQ Director Dr. Jennie Jocson, Senior Program Manager Dr. Brando Palomar, and project officer Ms. Donnadette SG. Belza. RITQ shared their valuable perspectives on the current state of teacher education in the Philippines.

PIDS is a government think tank established in 1977 to provide research and analysis on various socio-economic issues affecting the Philippines. Its primary mission is to assist policymakers in formulating evidence-based decisions through high-quality research and policy recommendations. (RITQ Communications)
